Afternoon Trail Walk

This walk will be led by one of the QGs’ co-owners, either Armand or Bernice. We’ll gather in the  Visitor Center for a brief introduction to the project and the local history of soapstone mining, then follow the main trail around the two quarry pools.

Among the plant communities, look for Black cohosh, Thimbleweed, False indigo, Goat’s beard, Butterflyweed, New Jersey tea, Spadderdock, Eastern prickly pear, Foxglove beardtongue, four species of Mountainmint, Swamp rose, Purple-flowering raspberry, Carolina wild petunia, Black snakeroot, Lizard’s tail, Early goldenrod, and many others. With more than 650 native species, surely something will be in bloom!

Consider bringing a lunch to enjoy in our picnic pavilion.
